Pro-life Democrat Bart Stupak announced his decision to retire today.  Stupak faced a flurry of attacks from “pro-life” conservatives and pro-choicers during the healthcare fight, but stood firm, fighting to protect the lives of all Americans- born and unborn, insured and uninsured.  The attacks against him and his authentic pro-life stance continued after the healthcare battle from both sides, including threats against his life and his family.  Stupak has decided that now, in the wake of this historic accomplishment, is the time to step away.
